Masturbazione

a new book by Cristian Ceresoli

Cristian Ceresoli (writer, poet) is finishing writing a book on the failure of the male (or the male system) and about his recent experience between pills and depression. But it’s also the story of a rock band and a terrorist attack at the zoo on a Monday morning. But it is above all the book that demonstrates his total inability to write a book. It is entitled “MASTURBAZIONE” (MASTURBATION) and from the Spring of 2024 with the title of “MSTBZ” it is presented in public for episodes in the form of live readings and with featuring in a podcasts by a choir of males and in different European cities both in Italian and in English. Once he finishes writing it, it will be published by a publishing house word for word, from the beginning to the end (of the world).

As in the “worst” novels of the nineteenth century, published in magazines chapter by chapter, the independent writer and poet chooses to initially “publish” this new writing with live readings while still at work writing the book. An evening inspired by some comedy where you read parts of the 32 Episodes that make up a book which says things the a male had never said, especially to himself. A book that sinks lightly and comically into the belly of mental illness so that any male can recognise himself. A book about the tragicomic failure of a male in particular and the failure more generally of the male system. A hymn to failure. A world-book with the story of a musician and his love, their three children and his rock band, the Wild Kaos. The book ends with a terrorist attack at the Rome Zoo, a Monday morning.

“MASTURBATION” is aimed at a mass audience, it is a pop book, full of vulgarity and a quite badly written. It can be considered a waste product for the cultural industry, something that even Amazon will struggle to sell. With unscrupulousness, therefore, a choir of males only reads parts of the book live as if they were singing the story of the one male in several male voices, exposing themselves to ridicule with tenderness. The readings don’t have a fixed cast. The number of male performers and musicians in the choir may change. The writing of “MASTURBATION”, the tour of “MSTBZ” and its radio and podcast version are combined with a political and social activity on the issues of mental health and gender violence, with public meetings and awareness projects organised in complicity with various experiences in Italy and Europe.

Cristian Ceresoli (scrittore, poeta) sta finendo di scrivere un libro sul fallimento del maschio (e del sistema ca**o) e sulla sua recente esperienza tra pasticche e depressione. Ma è anche la storia di una rock band e di un attentato terroristico allo zoo, un lunedì mattina. Ma è soprattutto il libro che dimostra la sua totale incapacità di scrivere un libro. Si intitola “MASTURBAZIONE” e dalla Primavera del 2024 con il titolo di “MSTBZ” è presentato in pubblico per episodi o puntate in forma di reading, dal vivo e con approfondimenti e featuring in podcast, da un coro di maschi e in diverse città europee sia in italiano che in inglese. Una volta finito di scrivere, sarà pubblicato da una casa editrice parola per parola, dall’inizio alla fine (del mondo).

Come nei “peggiori” romanzi del diciannovesimo secolo, pubblicati nelle riviste capitolo per capitolo, lo scrittore e poeta indipendente sceglie di “pubblicare” prima di tutto questa nuova scrittura con dei reading dal vivo mentre è ancora impegnato nella scrittura del libro. Una serata ispirata alla comicità di Enzo Jannacci, dove si leggono parti dei 32 Episodi che compongono un libro che dice cose il maschio non aveva mai detto, soprattutto a sé stesso. Un libro che affonda con leggerezza e comicità nel ventre della malattia mentale in modo che chiunque ci si possa riconoscere. Un libro sul fallimento tragicomico di un maschio in particolare, e del fallimento più in generale del sistema ca**o. Un inno al fallimento, insomma. Un libro mondo con dentro la storia di un musicista e del suo amore, dei loro tre figli e della sua rock band, i Wild Kaos. Il libro si conclude con un attentato terroristico allo Zoo di Roma, un lunedì mattina.

“MASTURBAZIONE“ si rivolge a un pubblico di massa (si tratta di un libro pop, pieno di volgarità e scritto un po’ male) e può essere considerato un prodotto di scarto per l’industria culturale, qualcosa che addirittura Amazon farà fatica a vendere. Con spregiudicatezza, quindi, un coro di soli maschi legge dal vivo le parti del libro come se cantasse a più voci la storia di uno stesso maschio, esponendosi al ridicolo, ma con tenerezza. I reading non hanno un cast fisso. Gli interpreti e il numero di maschi del coro può cambiare. La scrittura di “MASTURBAZIONE”, il tour di “MSTBZ” e la sua versione radiofonica e in podcast si combinano con una attività politica e sociale sui temi della salute mentale e della violenza di genere, con incontri pubblici e progetti di sensibilizzazione organizzati in complicità con diverse esperienze in Italia e in Europa.
